ReadSpeaker formReader Offers Interactive Voice Assistance When Filling Out Online Forms

The ReadSpeaker speech-enabling solutions for online content today launched an application for reading online forms out loud: ReadSpeaker formReader. ReadSpeaker formReader provides interactive voice assistance when filling out web forms. Both the fields that the user has to fill in and the text that the user has entered into these fields are read out loud. With interactive voice assistance, the risk that people abandon a web form is reduced, while customer satisfaction increases. “ReadSpeaker formReader makes web forms more accessible, which will result in more people filling out the form, says Niclas Bergstrom, founder of VoiceCorp, the company behind Readspeaker formReader. “This leads to an increase in the usage of web forms for websites using ReadSpeaker formReader and, at the same time, in a reduction of costs, since less phone assistance is needed to help users fill out web forms.”

VoiceCorp launches ReadSpeaker docReader for reading online documents out loud

VoiceCorp is pleased to present its latest product, ReadSpeaker docReader. ReadSpeaker docReader is an online software service that allows users to listen to PDFs, Word documents and a variety of other document formats. It converts these documents in a web readable format, while preserving the original layout. ReadSpeaker docReader makes various document formats viewable in all browsers, even on mobile phone browsers as well as other devices that do not have built in PDF-, Word- or Open Office document viewing capabilities. ReadSpeaker docReader is available as listen-icons next to the online published documents. When a document is opened using ReadSpeaker docReader, the user gets a toolbar with a speech button and a set of additional functionalities. By simply clicking the play button, the user can start enjoying the service. The user can choose to have the text highlighted while it is read out loud, to facilitate an even better understanding of the text. Since ReadSpeaker docReader is a fully web based service, the user is not required to download or install any special software to use ReadSpeaker docReader. This also means that website owners do not need to install software on the servers hosting the website or documents. “We are very enthusiastic about this new product which further enhances the accessibility to the content of websites. It allow website owners to serve the broadest possible audience and provide an easy click and listen access to their online documents, ” says Niclas Bergstrom, co-founder of VoiceCorp, the company behind Readspeaker docReader.

ReadSpeaker speech-enables Corriere website and iPhone app

VoiceCorp is pleased to announce that Corriere della Sera, the leading Italian newspaper, has recently implemented ReadSpeaker Enterprise, a web-based speech-enabling application to enhance the Corriere website reader experience and increase the accessibility of Corriere web content for everyone. This service allows Corriere website visitors to listen to articles by clicking the “listen” button at the top of each article, without the need for downloading and installing additional programs. To even further enhance the reader experience, Corriere website visitors can also choose to activate embedded highlighting, which enables them to see synchronized highlighting of the text that is being read, on a word by word and/or sentence basis. In addition to the website, Corriere has also speech-enabled their iPhone app with the ReadSpeaker audioMob application. By simply clicking on the listen button (headphones icon), which is an integral part of the iPhone app, it will automatically start reading the text. This new feature for the Corriere website will allow those otherwise incapable of reading online content the ease of listening to Corriere articles. For people that are on the go, that don’t have enough time to read, or prefer to listen to an article rather than reading it, the iPhone app listen function is a new, useful way to access information. It overcomes the problem of reading from a small screen.
VoiceCorp’s co-founder Roy Lindemann says: “VoiceCorp is very pleased to add speech functionality to Corriere’s website and iPhone app. By making Corriere’s website and iPhone app talk, we are providing a new and easy-to-use channel for Corrriere users to access information.”

Hebrew SeniorLife Enhances Web Site with ReadSpeaker

Hebrew SeniorLife, affiliated with Harvard Medical School and a leader in geriatric health care, research, teaching and housing, has introduced a series of tools on its Web site to make the content more readily available to seniors.
The new tools are designed to allow seniors to access a wealth of information about Hebrew SeniorLife’s health-care and housing options on the Internet. HSL is taking a leadership role in making its Web site (www. hebrewseniorlife. org) accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including seniors who have difficulty seeing or reading.
In addition to a standard Web-site feature that allows listeners to increase (or decrease) the size of type, HSL’s new upgrades include a “Listen” button that reads text over computer speakers. The tool is geared toward individuals with visual impairments or reading problems such as dyslexia, and visitors who prefer to listen rather than read. The tool was developed by VoiceCorp LLC. “We strongly believe that the implementation of our ReadSpeaker application on the Hebrew SeniorLife Web site will help to give larger audiences easier access to on-screen text, in a way that was never previously possible, ” says Jin Mehta, business development manager at VoiceCorp. “We hope that the leadership and commitment of Hebrew SeniorLife to making its Web site accessible will inspire others to do the same.” Read full article.

ReadSpeaker speech-enables RSS feeds on the iPhone

VoiceCorp today launched a speech-enabling iPhone app, called “ReadSpeaker audioMob Personal”, which allows iPhone/iPod Touch users to listen to (as well as view) text RSS feeds of blogs and websites. The app, which is available for free, enables users to listen to up to 3 English text RSS feeds of their choice. To select the feeds, users can either add the address of the feed manually or let the app search for feeds on any chosen blog or website. With ReadSpeaker audioMob Personal users can:

Browse articles while listening to other items by using the next and previous control buttons;
Choose a setting to play all feed items automatically one after the other or manually;
Navigate using the touch screen to listen to a specific news.
Due to the inherent size of the iPhone/iPod Touch screens and its use in situations where someone is on the go such as travelling, commuting or exercising, being able to listen to the text-feed content of blogs and websites provides users with a convenient and easy-to-use alternative to just reading. Users don’t need to synchronize their iPhones to listen to the selected feeds, these are updated automatically and on-the-fly directly to their ReadSpeaker audioMob Personal app. ReadSpeaker audioMob Personal is available for free from the App Store. For more information and screenshots of the app, please click here.

They received the award in tough competition with Sweden's most used mobile websites, where they were nominated in the class "Best mobile news service". Dagens Nyheter said that they've received the award because they've made their content accessible for mobile phones and because they've presented innovative solutions like an iPhone App and speech-enabling of its content so people can listen to the news. We would like to congratulate Dagens Nyheter with this nice award and hope that we can continue to work together with them to develop their mobile services even further in the future.

Listen to Dartmoor National Park Authority’s website

Visitors to Dartmoor National Park Authority’s website www. dartmoor-npa. gov. uk can now listen to the content of pages by clicking the ‘listen’ button, which is located in the top left corner of every webpage. Dartmoor National Park Authority has added ReadSpeaker technology to its website, making it one of the three UK National Parks to offer this service. The ReadSpeaker’s proReader system is recognized as being of benefit to a wide range of internet users including people with a visual impairment, people who use English as a second language and people with dyslexia. With the increasing use of mobile internet and small screen sizes, the system is also good news for those wishing to find out more about Dartmoor from one of the new generation of intelligent mobile phones. Users can listen to the information they require – or download it and listen to it later. ReadSpeaker converts text and then reads web content out loud, allowing the user to choose the reading speed. The user also has access to a range of other options, providing a fully personalized experience that meets their precise needs - show or hide text as it is being read, change the text size and colour and change the language. Visitors do not need their own text-to-speech software to use ReadSpeaker. Click here for the news release.

United Press International introduces ReadSpeaker web-based speech-enabling application to enhance the UPI. com reader experience and increase the accessibility of UPI. com content for everyone.
ReadSpeaker Enterprise is VoiceCorp's latest generation of web based text-to-speech services, bringing online speech enabling to the next level. This service will allow UPI. com readers to listen to articles in English and Spanish by clicking a small icon at the top of each article without the need for downloading and installing additional programs.
The fact that most of the content on the Internet today is text based may create problems for some, but this new feature for UPI. com will allow those otherwise incapable of reading online content the ease of listening to UPI. com articles and features.
Each day, UPI publishes its content directly to UPI. com , reaching a growing global audience. Over 3.5 million unique visitors visit their web site every month and the number is rising. In January of 2009 alone, UPI. com received 9.8 million page views. Click here for the official press release of UPI or click here for the announcement on UPI. com.

Speech synthesis with spanish accent

There is a big web campaign that rolled out in Sweden. It is Scan, Sweden's leading supplier of charcuterie products, that is launching a new product: A Basque sausage named Txistorra. Within the campaign it is possible to send a "speech-o-gram" to friends. The message is then read to your friend in Swedish but with a very strong Spanish accent.
The Swedish web bureau Locomotiv has built the campaign and we are providing the speech for the messages. We have provided speech to similar campaigns earlier on. But the new and innovative aspect of this campaign is to use a voice with another language than the text. We used some tricks to get the perfect accent.
The service used for this is SpeechMachine. It is our OEM solution for text-to-speech. We have two different price models for SpeechMachine. You pay either for the capacity needed or for the speech generated. Contact us if you are interested in speech-enabling a web campaign or a web application to make it more interactive or innovative.
